HOW TO SEE VISIONS
In the last days, God
says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will
prophesy, your young men will see visions. Acts 2:17 (NIV)
According to Acts 2:17,
Holy Spirit can lead us through visions. While the word “vision”
in this verse can refer to seeing something in a dream or trance, that’s
not the only possible definition.
The root word for vision
in this verse leans toward sight, either internally or externally. It can speak
of our physical ability to see something in the here and now, or the mental
ability to look ahead and envision something that hasn’t
happened yet. Holy Spirit can help us to envision the future and determine how
to get there.
Today’s
verse mentions youth in particular when it comes to seeing with vision, which
is interesting. God wants young people to envision the future He has for them
so they won’t do things that risk their safety or compromise their
destiny.
When young people have
vision, they realize that the decisions they make today affect their future—their
career, relationships and the call of God on their life. They’re
more motivated to make good decisions.
What is your vision for
the future? Have you thought about it?
Through God’s
Word, Holy Spirit is helping you to envision the kind of future He has for you.
He also has a specific dream for you that extends far beyond what just benefits
you. I’m not saying that He has some sort of grand title or
position in mind for you. He may just be calling you to roll up your sleeves
and help out on a team, but His plans will lead you to the greatest impact you
could possibly make in your lifetime
